Hello, I'm living in Austria and bought the Orange Box - Retail DVD yesterday in a shop in Vienna, Austria.
It was manefactured for the german speaking market (USK 18), though I always set my Steam acoount and games on the english language.
I'm aware that the 3 new games Episode Two, Portal & TF2 have been slightly censored for Germany especially because of their local youth protection laws and the USK.
In Austria (& Switzerland) these laws are not valid and therefore the games usually should be uncut on accounts from these countries.
And here comes my question:
Steam verifies the user's nationality by his IP-adress and settles the updates and games either to cut or uncut.
Why did I, as a mature 22 year old student in Austria (and having every other Steam Game uncut on my acoount), get my new games in a censored version?
Since this seems to be only a server issue, couldn't this problem be easily solved with another update?
I don't want to complain, since everything was fine till now, but I as a Valve-Supporter want to enjoy the games in their original supposed way.
I'd appreciate any kind of suggestions and answers to this problem!
Best regards,
***
Ende langer Text
