Das neue Update für die aktuelle Steam-Beta behebt nicht nur wieder einige Fehler, der Changelog enthüllt auch, dass der offizielle Support für das Windows 2000-Betriebssystem Ende August eingestellt werden wird. Laut Steam Hardware-Survey verwenden noch 0,1 Prozent der User dieses OS. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob ab diesem Zeitpunkt das Programm komplett seinen Dienst verweigern wird oder ob es bei möglichen Problemen in der Zukunft einfach keine Patches mehr dafür geben wird. Die Änderungen des heutigen Updates im Detail:
- Fixed Steam not running at all on Win2k; support for Win2k will officially be ending at the end of August 2010
- Fixed chat kick notifications not being styled
- More updates to various foreign language strings
- Fixed missing entries in the downloads tab if an app was already downloading but hadn’t written anything to disk yet
- Fixed DLC sometimes showing up in most recently played lists in addition to base game
- Fixed the in-game overlay having skewed text in Win2k
- Fixed labels with \r\n in their text drawing squares at the end of lines in Win2k/WinXP
Erneut handelt es sich hauptsächlich nur noch um kosmetische Änderungen, damit dürfte dem offiziellen Release des neuen Clients am kommenden Montag nichts mehr im Wege stehen.
