Day of Defeat: Source to be Released as Stand-AloneValve's Head of Support, Doug Valentine (not to be confused with the Marketing Director, Doug Lombardi) has today released a statement on the Steam forums stating that DOD: Source will be sold as a stand-alone product, without needing to re-purchase or even purchase Half-Life 2 at all:
You will be able to purchase DoD:Source through Steam without purchasing a new copy of HL2. Release date and pricing have not been set yet.
Happy Holidays

This is great news for everyone out there who is a fan of the original. For those of you unaware, the reason why the retail versions of Half-Life 2 haven't shipped DoD:S is due to the fact that the publishing rights for Day of Defeat are held by Activision and not Vivendi Universal Games.
At this time there is no ETA on Day of Defeat: Source but you'll see the updates here as soon as they're available. For now, you can find Doug's original post in this thread.
