Portal 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the title that earned over 30 Game of the Year Awards in 2007. The sequel adds new characters, game mechanics, and multiplayer co-op to the award-winning formula that made the original a global phenomenon in gaming.
"The inclusion of the original song, Still Alive, in the first Portal game was part of what made the game special," said Chet Faliszek, writer at Valve. "For Portal 2, we wanted to extend the use of music. When Bug Music mentioned to us that The National might be interested, we jumped at the opportunity to work with them."

"The National's raw and emotive music evokes the same visceral reactions from its listeners that Portal does from its players. Dass Jonathan Coulton, der den populären Endsong Still Alive für Portal geschrieben hat, auch im Sequel wieder mit von der Partie sein wird, ist bereits seit fast einem Jahr bekannt. Nun wurde von Geoff Keighley in der aktuellen Ausgabe von GTTV enthüllt, dass auch die US-amerikanische Band The National ein Musikstück beisteuern wird. Mehr Details dazu gibt es allerdings nicht. Das Lied gefällt mir aber schonmal, ist mal etwas anders, wenn's in die Richtung geht. Ich hoffe nur, dass es keine Vocals geben wird, was ich mir aber auch schwer vorstellen kann.
Indie Rock in Portal 2? Das hätte ich nicht erwartet, aber das ließe sich sicher passend einbauen. Kenne die Band nicht, aber der Stil gefällt mir. Das scheint ja ein echt musiklastiges Spiel zu werden. Coole Sache.
